Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026

OnTheTrack ("we", "us") operates onthetrack.uk. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it. We're a small, independent site, and we only collect what we need to run it.

Who we are

OnTheTrack, contactable at hello@onthetrack.uk. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.

What we collect and why

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address and message. This is stored in our database (hosted by Supabase) and triggers a notification email to us (sent via Resend). We use this to respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: legitimate interest in responding to enquiries you've sent us, or consent where you've provided information beyond what's needed to reply.

Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, how people arrive at the site, and general device/location information (derived from IP address, which is not stored in full). This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics only loads after you accept analytics cookies via the banner; if you decline, no analytics data is collected. Google acts as a data processor for this information — see Google's own privacy policy for how they handle it.

Track day planner

The planner tool (circuit, date, and checklist selections) is stored entirely in your browser's local storage. It is never sent to us or any third party. Clearing your browser data will remove it.

Weather and rain radar

Live weather and rain radar data is provided by Open-Meteo and RainViewer. Your browser requests this data directly from those services using circuit coordinates — no personal data is knowingly shared with them beyond what's inherent in any web request (such as your IP address, used only to serve the request).

Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary for the site to function, plus — only with your consent — Google Analytics cookies (typically _ga, _ga_*, _gid) used to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can change your cookie choice at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer.

How long we keep data

Contact form submissions are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and keep a record of your enquiry, after which they may be deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict our processing of it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@onthetrack.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been mishandled.

Children

OnTheTrack is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change.
